Spring 05' Points Standings
POINTS SCORING SYSTEM
The 2005 Spring Points series will be 9 races long. (Stock Sedan Points has merged with the Mini Cooper series, although will race weekly) There will be 2 ‘throw out’ (or drops) races and
a new system of scoring points.
Your points total will be the sum of your best 7 results. The remaining
2 results (drops) will be used as tiebreakers. This will allow for racers
to miss a race day due to other engagements, or to have a ‘bad day’ at
the track.
Points will now be scored based on a 100 point system. The winner of
the A Main in each class will receive 100 points. 2nd place will get 98,
3rd will get 96, 4th will get 94, and so on. (2 points between each finishing
position). The Top Qualifier for each class will receive 1 bonus point.
Example: If there are 15 drivers in Stock Sedan with 8 cars
in the A Main and 7 cars in the B Main, points would be distributed as follows:
A Main 1st = 100 points B
Main 1st = 84 points
A Main 2nd = 98 points B
Main 2nd = 82 points
A Main 3rd = 96 points B
Main 3rd = 80 points
A Main 4th = 94 B
Main 4th = 78
A Main 5th = 92 B
Main 5th = 76
A Main 6th = 90 B
Main 6th = 74
A Main 7th = 88 B
Main 7th = 72
A Main 8th = 86
The Top Qualifier would earn 1 bonus point. If a racer is TQ
and wins the A Main, he/she would earn 101 points. Should that racer
TQ and finish 2nd, he/she would earn 99 points, and so on.
This system rewards a driver for being the Top Qualifier (pole position). However,
it still makes winning the main more important than finishing 2nd.
Tiebreakers: the 2 drops will be used as the 1st and 2nd tiebreakers. If
two racers finish the series with an equal number of points, the 1st tiebreaker
will be the highest drop. If needed, the 2nd tiebreaker will be the 2nd
drop. Should more tiebreakers be necessary, the next-lowest remaining
result for each driver would be used until the tie is broken.
