Mini of Pittsburgh and Steel City Hobbies team up at this year's Vintage Grand Prix in Pittsburgh, PA. SCH is very happy to participate in this year's Vintage Grand Prix located in Schenley Park, Pittsburgh.

Schedule of activities for MINI at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix

Saturday July 8th:
Where- Beaver Run Motorsports race track
What goes on- ‘big block’ car races (cars too powerful to compete at Schenley
Park) qualifying heats
When- all day long starting at 9 am.
What MINI is going- the MINI Race car will be competing in the BMW/ Porsche
challenge. Watch the morning practice runs and afternoon race as the MINI will try
for the best position for Sunday’s race.
MINI has a tent with tables and chairs and will have an area in the upper parking
lot with a Remote Controlled MINI exhibit. The public will be invited to drive the
RC MINI race cars around cones for a simulated MINI test drive. Steel City Hobbies
RC helicopters and planes will be doing exhibits starting at noon.

The MINI Grill car (with its new graphics) will be on hand and firing up hot dogs
and hamburgers starting at 12:30.

Sunday July 9th:
Where- Beaver Run Motorsports race track
When- 8 am to 5 pm

What goes on- ‘big block’ car races (cars too powerful to compete at Schenley
Park)
What MINI is going- the MINI Race car will be competing in the BMW/ Porsche
challenge. Watch the morning practice runs and cheer on the afternoon race as the
MINI will go for the gold against the big boys.
The MINI ‘grill’ will be on hand and available to use if you bring your own food.

Monday July 10th:
Where- Walnut Street in Shadyside
When- 5 pm to 9 pm

What goes on- The Street is closed to vehicle traffic and some of Pittsburgh’s
finest Vintage cars will be exhibited. For cars it’s invitation only. For people it’s
free and open to the public. Bring your camera.
What MINI is going- the MINI grill car and the MINI race car have been invited to
exhibit and will be on display. Maniac -X of Shadyside- MINI Models will be passing out literature, toasting MINI Marshmallows on the grill, and collecting leads. Nick will be driving MINI RC cars on the street.

Tuesday July 11th:

Where- Waterfront in Homestead

When- 4 pm to 9 pm

What goes on- Car cruise open to the public. All types of cars on display. Free to the public. If you ‘show’ your car they ask for a $5 donation (like paying for parking).

What MINI is doing- Some Pittstop club members will meet the MINI grill at the gas station at the top of the hill to parade in as a group. Meeting time is 6pm. The ‘grill’ car will be toasting marshmallows.

Wednesday July 12th:

Where- Downtown Pittsburgh (Across from the Hilton in Pont State Park, PPG Plaza and the US Steel Building)

When- noon to 2 pm

What goes on- Invitation only (for the cars) car display in 3 areas of Downtown. Free to the public. Look at some of Pittsburgh’s hottest cars during your lunch hour.

What MINI is going- Tow car and ‘grill’ car will be on display. RC MINIs will be driving the streets.

Wednesday July 12th:

Where- Downtown, Bossa Nova 123 7th street

When- 6 pm to 9 pm

What goes on- Roaring Race Rally, appetizers, cocktails and auction as well as Car display on the Street out side the restaurant. Open to the public. $30 donation

What MINI is doing- the MINI race car and a BMW 650 will be exhibited on 7th avenue.

Saturday July 15th:

Where- West End Overlook/ Schenley Park

When- 8 am to 9 am at West End, parade, and then- 11 am to 4 pm car show

What goes on- Over 1,500 classic, antique, and exotic vehicles combine to form an international car show on the fairways of the Schenley Park Golf course overlooking the races. PittStop MINI club members will meet at the West End Overlook for pictures, coffee and donuts. At 9 am we will be escorted by the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Department to Schenley Park for the car show and watch the race warm ups and qualifiers.

What MINI is doing- Pictures from 8 to 9 at Overlook and parade at 9. Exhibition of RC cars “fake” MINIs and RC flying aircraft (helicopters and planes) starting at 11 am by Steel City Hobbies. Noon to 1 pm lunch by Lynn’s Catering. MINI car show 11 am to 4 pm on the golf course. MINI grill car will be there and MINI Race car and Sheriff’s MINI will be doing exhibit ‘hot’ laps between races on the race course. Open to the public for free. Cost to display car $20 donation, lunch is $10 per person. Please order in advance.

Sunday July 16th:

Where- Schenley Park Golf Course

When- 8:15 to 10:45 am Race Car practice, 10:30 to Noon Opening Ceremonies, noon to 5 pm Races

What MINI is doing- Watching the parade of motorcycles and jaguars and the 8 Vintage races. The MINI grill car will be available. You are welcome to bring your own food to cook on it.
