Gary Pickerell Memorial Race

Our wishes and prayers go out to Gary's family as he lost the battle to Cancer on August 14, 2006. Gary was one of the areas long time R/C racers. Gary had been racing at SCH since we opened in Pittsburgh, PA where he had his own personal pit space alongside two of his favorite R/C friends Chuck and Frank. A Memorial fundraiser race will be held in Gary's name on Saturday, October 14, 2006 which will be organized by Gary's closest R/C friends Frank Dempster and Chuck Chambers. Details below.

Gary Pickerell Memorial Race

Frank Dempster and Chuck Chambers helped organize a fund raiser race for Gary Pickerell who passed away on August 14th from a long battle with Cancer. "Chuck and I have been a friend of Gary’s for well, YEARS. …Quite a ways for the three of us have we been racing together" says Frank Dempster.

100% of this fundraiser will go to Cindy, Gary’s wife – to help with the accumulated bills over the last 14 months.

The race day was a lot of fun with a lot of people who knew Gary.

Race Benefit details:
- This will be a one day event (Oct. 14th) with Oval AND Road-Course racing at Steel City Hobbies.
- There will be an on-road race only - in Beaver PA on Sunday, October 15th

Classes: Run what you bring – cars will be segregated into a typical class (3 or more of the same type to make up a class).
Entry Donation: We are asking for $15 for the 1st Car and $5 for every car after.
- The entry fee includes a meal!
- There will be door prizes.
- There will be Chinese Auctions
- There will be a 50/50
- Some of the gifts at the SCH location will be from top R/C manufacturers such as: Team Losi, Team Associated, Traxxas, JACO, Team Trinity, Horizon Hobby, Spec Point Batteries, ProLine and other sponsors such as SCH & crew, Michael Rooney, Pittsburgh Steelers and AB Charles Hobby Shop.

This is more than just a fundraiser! There is going to be great food, great atmosphere, great gifts, and this is going to be something special! Please try to attend!

When and where:
Racing will be on Saturday, October 14th starting at Noon at Steel City Hobbies (Road-Course and Oval)
On October 15 there will be an On-Road race at Beaver’s The Raceway.

Patty Dempster will be donating some good tasting food.
