Steel
City in Ontario, CA - Horizon & Team Losi visit
Steel
City Hobbies stopped in to see Pops Losi and the gang in Ontario, CA.
Todd Hodge was an excellent host as he took us all around the plant showing
us some of their deepest secrets. Ok... not really, but we did have a great
time looking around the facility in such places as engineering, the warehouse,
shipping & receiving, assembly, and so on. Below are a few pictures and subheadings
to guide you through the tour we had.
Special thanks
to Todd Hodge and the welcoming committee such as Mr. Losi Sr., Adam Drake,
Gil Losi Jr., a few design engineers and everyone else!
Ontario California is the home to Horizon Hobby on the West Coast.
This
is also the corporate headquarters for Team Losi.
This is the formula -1 car owned by Team Losi located just as you walk in the
main lobby.
This is where Todd Hodge and Adam Drake live when they are not racing. All
the tech repairs
that are shipped into this facility come to this room so they can be looked
at and repaired.
This would be the main floor of the warehouse.
Left of the yellow barrier is Team Losi and proprietary products such as JR,
Dynamite, etc.
To the far left you can almost make out the machine room fenced in.
Team Losi acquired a CNC machine for keeping most machining in-house. Very
expensive
investment but it should not be too long before this is paid for.
A close-up of the CNC machine working on a Losi part. I wonder when SCH will
get a
CNC machine??
A look at the other half of the machine room.
Pieces and Parts are picked then stuffed into a bag, where a header card is
attached before shipping.
A wall full of individual parts down to the screw.
Here we have BK2 kits being packaged.
Dynamite's Starter Kit for monster trucks all starts here.
This special room holds all flammable materials. In the event of a fire this
room would
seal up, confining the blaze to this room, keeping it away from the rest of
the facility.
I wonder what is in these boxes?
Here we have a few thousand bodies. Some of these are for the latest JRX-S.
The
next step would be adding the paint masks and header cards.
This is
a quick look at the Horizon/Losi plant. Thanks for taking a look with us!
