Clearchannel
and the X team up with Steel City Hobbies
Steel City Hobbies
attended the X-Fest all
day on Friday, May 28, 2004. There was an estimated crowd of nearly 20,000
people. Weather was rainy in the morning and overcast for the rest of the
day with brief periods of sunshine. There were a few stages set up, and a
few R/C cars driving throughout at different times. Racing was fun between
people trying to race to upgrade their seats to the front row! It was tight
down to the end.
Details
Schedule:
We performed in-between and during acts throughout the day: Radio Control
performances such as Freestyle tricks with monster trucks and other nitro
and electric models, On-road racing by seasoned local R/C racers, and very
hot and bleeding edge demonstrations such as "Drifting" and "Rock
Crawling."
Ticket Up-Grade
Race:
A few patrons became a part of the action by renting one of the actual
R/C
cars
used
by one of your favorite DJ's such as: Alan Cox, Whipping Boy, Grimm, Bocan,
Digby and Vinnie! If you beat their time your name was dropped into
a hat for a drawing.
Featuring:
Offspring, Drowning Pool, Switchfoot, Finger Eleven, Punchline,
Story of the Year, The Start, Melissa Auf Der Maur & More...

Yokomo sent us this Drifting Car with our Yokomo Veilside body, that performed
as well as
the bands playing in the distant background! Very cool!

Team Losi's Mini-T's lined up for the public to try their hand at beating
the local DJ Stars.

Here we see the list of DJ's from the "X", 105.9 who each
had an R/C car to set the pace.
This shot was taken before we opened just to show how much demonstration
space we used.
However, we expanded beyond this with some crazy jumping.
This is the track that the Mini-T's used all day long.
Ron and Conor take to the crowd to pass out fliers and to talk to people
about R/C.
Towards the end of the evening, we put on a little show behind the scenes
for some
Post-Gazette Pavilion employees. They needed a show as they too were working
hard.
This is a touring sedan jumping over 20' feet into the grass. It died before
the end needless to say.
The Demonstration tent was hard to see as it was in the distance from the
entryway.
Thanks
for viewing and see you next year!
